PPSC Announced Syllabus for Compulsory Subjects of PMS Jobs 2022

The Punjab Public Service Commission recently announced jobs for two positions. Both of these positions are available under PPSC Advertisement No.03/2022. The available jobs are:

  • Provincial Management Service post available under the Services & General Administration Department
  • Excise & Taxation Officer post available under the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department.

For all the applicants who will apply for the post till 28th March 2022, the management will conduct a Written/Screening Exam of Compulsory subjects of 600 marks. Details of Marks for PMS Compulsory Subjects 2022

Before moving onto the syllabus, we will take you to the details of marks that each compulsory subject will carry:

  • English Essay = 100 Marks
  • English (Precis, Comprehension & Translation) = 100 Marks
  • Urdu (Essay, Precis, Comprehension & Translation) = 100 Marks
  • Islamic Studies (Both Subjective & Objective) = 100 Marks
  • For Non-Muslim Candidates Ethics (both Subjective & Objective)
  • Pakistan Studies (Both Subjective & Objective) = 100 Marks
  • General Knowledge (Objective) = 100 Marks

PMS Syllabus for Compulsory Subjects 2022

English Essay

  • Candidates would be required to write an essay in English of about 1500 words. A wide choice of topics will be available in the question paper. The topics may include education, economy, foreign policy, governance, human rights, constitution, law & order, and other socio-economic issues related to Pakistan and topics of general nature.
  • The management expects candidates to reflect a clear understanding of the topic, conceptual clarity, and logical reasoning. The PPSC will also examine the candidate’s articulation, expression, and correct use of the English language.

English (Precis, Comprehension & Translation) 

English Precis and Comprehension: The exam will essentially test the ability of the applicants to handle precise writing, comprehension, syntax, translation, grammar, vocabulary, etc.

  • Precis Writing: A passage of generic nature with enough room for compression shall be available for writing a precis and suggesting a suitable topic.
  • Comprehension: A carefully selected passage, rich in substance but not specific to any discipline, shall be given, followed by five questions requiring answers from the path itself.
  • Grammar & Vocabulary: Questions about the correct usage of tense, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, punctuations, verbs shall be available.
  • Sentence Correction: Sentences may be available, each having a flaw in grammar, punctuations, or use of capitals. Candidates will have to correct them without making unnecessary alterations.
  • Grouping of Words & Pair of Words: Words, chosen randomly, maybe given that need to be grouped by candidates in pairs having similar or opposite meaning, use of idioms and proverbs as may be directed in the question, antonyms, synonyms, etc.

Translation: A short passage in Urdu that may contain figurative or idiomatic expressions shall be available for an accurate translation into English.

Urdu (Essay, Precis, Comprehension & Translation)

Participants have to write an essay in Urdu of about 1000 words. A wide choice of topics will be available in the question paper. The topics may include issues about education, economy, foreign policy, governance, human rights, constitution, law & order & other socio-economic problems relating to Pakistan, and topics of general nature.

  • Introduction to Islam: Advent of Islam, Fundamentals of Islam, Concepts and their Significance, Deen and its religious impact on individual and society; spiritual, moral and social impact. Basic Beliefs, Amar Bilmaroof and Nahi anil Munkir.
  • Seerat-un-Nabi: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a Messenger, Reformer, Supervisor, Educator, Diplomat, Statesman, Military Leader, etc.
  • Early Islamic History up to Khulfa-e Rashideen
  • Human Rights in Islam consisting Status of Women, Rights of Minorities.
  • Islam and the World: Influence on the West and vice versa; Role in the modern world; Modern challenges for the Muslim world and Muslim minorities globally.
  • Islamic Code of Life: Salient features of Islamic socio-political and economic system, judicial system and administrative system; Ijtihad & its forms.

For Non-Muslim Candidates Ethics (both Subjective & Objective)

  • Religions of the World-Revealed & Non-Revealed.

  • Pakistan & the changing regional scenario.

  • Regional Cooperation including SAARC, ECO, SCO, and the role of Pakistan.
